Despite popular belief, songs are not necessarily autobiographical — or even biographical, for that matter. As a screenwriter, Bridget is no stranger to creating stories with characters of ages, ethnicities, occupations, experiences, and so on that are not her own — and her songs are often no different.
That said, she does also write from her own life at times. And "Castoffs" is such a song. Course, it's possible there wasn't in actuality a bona fide demon possession... (Then again, who can say for sure.) But make no bones about it: the other one was most assuredly NOT working.
