As art rock, Oftiani’s music is a modern version of experimental rock — but with the aspiration of eliciting a portrait, landscape, or abstract (i.e., a composition in the fullest sense of the word: music, literature, and art). Each song thus strives to become a rendering where every element is musingly arranged not simply for aesthetics or entertainment — but to invoke an audial image.
The umbrella ilk for this offshoot is alternative rock — (though Oftiani’s version diverges a tad when it comes to instruments typically employed — featuring percussion and wind as opposed to rock’s standard guitar or synthesizer). The songs are hands-on and homespun — composed, performed, recorded, and promoted by Oftiani — making it truly DIY music.
