Bridget's mother wanted a signature song for a
slideshow she was assembling as the host of her niece's bridal shower, so she asked Bridget to please write such. And record it. And preferably hand it off ASAP. Hence, "Irish Blessings" was born in the course of an afternoon. Bridget cast her bucket into the artisan aquifers and inkwells abundant in her family's culture, and — luck of the Irish — she had instance appropriate instant lyrics. To give the two ukulele components equal power and depth, the soprano part is actually played on a baritone uke tuned to a soprano's typical high G reentrant pitch. Instrumentation: voice, "standard" uke, baritone uke, tin whistle, bodhrán Miscellaneous Art Rock Trivia for "Irish Blessings": To punctuate and elevate the song's Irish frame of mind, Bridget and Matthew played the bodhrán and tin whistle (respectively) — which might not have been noteworthy, save for the fact that neither ever played such before. sound recording personnel:

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be at your back. May the sun shine upon your face And the rains caress your grass. May your nights be uneventful And your days be full and grand. And may the Lord always hold you In the hollow of His hand. May love and laughter light your days And warm your heart and home. May good and faithful friends be yours Wherever you may roam. May peace and plenty bless your world With joy that long endures. And may all life's passing seasons Bring the best to you and yours. May brooks, and trees, and warbling hills Join the chorus too. And every gentle wind that blows Bring cheerfulness to you. May the footprints of your loved ones Never wash out of the sand. And may the Lord always hold you In the hollow of His hand. |
