"Slow Burn" is a combination of scored loops and improvisation. The song was originally intended to allow improvisational moments across all the instruments,
but given the restraints of a bedroom studio and a two-piece band, Bridget switched gears and retooled the song to have scripted riffs mixed with impromptu licks. She then decided to take things a step further by having the riffs be locked in while the licks were free-form. While many of Bridget's drum fills are impromptu, "Slow Burn" takes that element to the next level with entirely unscripted drums. It is the only song on Off & On to feature improvised parts of such an extensive nature. It is also the only instrumental song on the album.
